LVS Transitions Into Course Choice
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) is transitioning from serving as a provider of online courses offered through
the Louisiana Virtual School (LVS) to the Course Choice program which will offer various types of learning
options available through multiple providers.
Course Choice will provide students and their families access to rigorous college and career course offerings that best match
students' abilities and needs beginning SY 13-14. The Course Choice program is an integral component of Louisiana Believes, the state's plan to
empower students and teachers. For more information go to http://www.louisianacoursechoice.net or
email CourseChoice@la.gov.
LVS 2012 - 2013 Agreements and Costs
The Louisiana Virtual School is pleased to announce its 2012-2013 course offerings. LVS will be collecting a
Materials and Technology cost of $150 per student per course enrollment, to be paid for by the student’s district,
school, or Local Educational Authority (LEA). Prior to any school enrolling students for an LVS course for the 2012-2013
school year, the District/LEA must return a new signed agreement, with the appropriate signatures, to the contact person
stated in the agreement. Nonpublic and charter schools must also include a Board Resolution with the agreement. If you
have any general questions about the LVS, please contact Tiffany A. Thomas at
Tiffany.Thomas@LA.Gov or at (225) 219-0436.
