A student can register for a Credit Recovery course if the student had previously been enrolled in the course but was unsuccessful in earning credit. The online, instructor-led course is aligned to the Louisiana GLEs, and the English courses have been appropriately grouped into smaller topics to increase retention and expand opportunities for assessment while the Algebra and Geometry courses offer diagnostic quizzes that allow the students the opportunity to bypass content areas they have previously studied successfully.

The pacing of each student through the course is independent of other students, but students are expected to complete the course. Coursework exams are password-protected, and passwords are given to the facilitator. Students must pass the credit recovery final exam to earn credit (regardless of the coursework grade). Final credit recovery notification of Pass or Fail is sent to the school, and final credit recovery course letter grades are sent to the school for students who passed their exams.

The credit recovery final exam can only be taken once after completing the entire credit recovery course of which the student is enrolled. Final exams are accessed by students via Blackboard, and final exams are password-protected and administered in the presence of a facilitator.
